Respect Round-Ground Marshal appointments

As you would be aware, Respect Round 2019 is taking place across the coming weekend of football fixtures.

We are proud to see so many Victorian clubs embracing the round and developing initiatives that will be rolled out this weekend and across the remainder of the season as we strive for a culture shift throughout our ecosystem.

One critical initiative that I would like to encourage all clubs to implement from this weekend is the appointment of a Ground Marshal at all matches.

This means that each Club and Team Manager will allocate a Ground Marshal at each of their games and ensure they are aware of their roles and responsibilities.

The Ground Marshal is a nominated club representative who will co-ordinate the efficient completion of each match day fixture.

The three key roles are:
Maintain match day schedule and key operational duties;
Managing the environment and ensuring a friendly and respectful atmosphere;
Support the Referees and Assistant Referees from arrival, during the game and departure

The important role a Ground Marshal plays cannot be understated. They provide support to the clubs, players, parents, coaches, assistants and referees, ensuring a high quality, welcoming and respectful sporting experience for everyone.

The Ground Marshal is a crucial role that ensures a positive match day environment.
