The workshop will be held in Ballarat at Morshead Park on Sunday 6th August 10.00-11.30am. The session is for all female teams aged 12 and up. Breakfast will be available from 9.30am. Ideally the Coach, Team Manager and two players from each team should attend. Participants will be required to get physical so please wear the appropriate clothing.
Knee injuries are the most common type of injury among female football players with the risk peaking at 16 years of age.
Additionally, female football players are up to four times more likely to experience an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear than their male counterparts.
These statistics paint a frightening picture and it is clear that young female football players are at an extremely high risk of injury.
Thus, it is crucial to the development of our sport and player well-being that we implement a targeted approach to preventing these injuries.
The FIFA 11+ program is a specifically designed warm up and strengthening sequence that is designed to prevent lower limb injuries and develop stronger football players. It has been proven to reduce injuries in female players by up to 50%!
FFV representatives, headed by exercise physiologist Elliot Elliot are now heading out to Victorian female teams to educate coaches and players the ins, outs and practicalities of this critical program.
